Welcome to Ecole Internationale de Kigali, where we provide a comprehensive educational program aligned with both the French National Education system and the Rwandan MINEDUC program. Our curriculum is designed to foster the holistic development of children from early childhood through the primary years.
Nursery Section
Nursery Section Focuses on early childhood development, covering language, physical and artistic activities, critical thinking, and world exploration for children aged 2 to 6.
Primary Section
The nursery school at Ecole Internationale de Kigali offers a nurturing and engaging environment for young children, focusing on the fundamental stages of early childhood development. The nursery school is divided into:
- Very Small Section (TPS): 2 to 3 years
- Small Section (PS): 3 to 4 years
- Middle Section (MS): 4 to 5 years
- Large Section (GS): 5 to 6 years
At this stage, children embark on their educational journey through a structured program organized into five key learning areas:
- Utilizing Language in All Its Dimensions: Encouraging communication skills and language development.
- Acting, Expressing, and Understanding Through Physical Activity: Promoting physical development and coordination.
- Acting, Expressing, and Understanding Through Artistic Activities: Enhancing creativity and artistic expression.
- Building the First Tools to Structure Thought: Developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Exploring the World: Fostering curiosity and understanding of the surrounding environment.
The primary school at Ecole Internationale de Kigali provides a robust educational foundation for children aged 6 to 11, divided into two cycles (Cycle 2 and the start of Cycle 3). The primary school consists of five grade levels:
- Preparatory Course (CP): 6 to 7 years
- Elementary Course 1st Year (CE1): 7 to 8 years
- Elementary Course 2nd Year (CE2): 8 to 9 years
- Middle Course 1st Year (CM1): 9 to 10 years
- Middle Course 2nd Year (CM2): 10 to 11 years
- Language Study: Grammar, vocabulary, conjugation, spelling, oral and written production.
- Mathematics: Basic arithmetic and problem-solving.
- Civic and Physical Education: Promoting citizenship, ethics, and physical health.
- Visual Arts: Encouraging creativity and visual expression.
- Exploring the World: Introducing basic concepts in history, geography, and sciences.
- History and Geography: Understanding past events and the world around us.
- Science: Developing scientific knowledge and inquiry.
- Moral and Civic Education: Fostering moral values and civic responsibility.
School Timetable
The weekly study time is 24 hours, distributed across all subjects.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday:
- Morning: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM
- Break: 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM
- Lunch: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
- Afternoon: 1:30 PM onwards
Wednesday and Friday:
- Morning: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM
- Afternoon: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Extracurricular activities
